Banknote 500 zloty 1974, ser. A - running numbering - SPECIMEN imprinted only on the reverse.
An extremely rare banknote, until recently considered unique, now 2 pieces of this type are still known. This is a variation of the design of this banknote, printed on a piece of series A with running numbering and SPECIMEN printing in navy blue on the reverse, there is no indication on the obverse that we are dealing with a design. Similar type of 500 zloty 1974 patterns are encountered but they involve zero-numbered A-series banknotes. A variant like the one in the auction, it is most likely an unfinished form, at the stage of preparing the printing of patterns on current numbered banknotes, similar to what happened later, in the case of the 100 zloty 1976 denomination, where in the absence of patterns proper with zero numbering, it was decided to make MODEL/SPECIMEN overprints on the available current numbered banknotes.
An attractive piece, confirmed by a high PMG grading note, plus an EPQ annotation attesting to the exceptional quality of the paper.
