Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: NGC MS61
Certificate: NGC 5883345-014

Boleslaw III the Wry-mouthed, Denarius - Knight with spear - very rare.

The oldest and rarest type of denarius of Boleslaw III the Wrymouth, whose representation of the reverse "a building with three towers ...". represents a continuation of the minting of Ladislaus I Herman.
Av.: A knight in front with a spear in his right hand and a shield in his left hand. In the rim: BOLE - ZLΛV
Rw.: Building with three towers crowned with crosses.

State of preservation: NGC MS61
Minor local scarcity, but for this type a beautifully preserved coin. Deep, plastic relief. Beautiful detail. A lot of luster. Very high NGC grade. The NGC grading shows a significant number of denarii in equivalent and higher grades, but according to our market discernment, this is the only piece of the "Knight with Spear" type that has appeared on the Polish numismatic market with an MS grade. In this condition, the coin is very rare and very difficult to get on the collector market. Piece for the best collections.
