Frederick Xavier Ducat 1766 EDC, Dresden - rare
Ducat minted at the Dresden mint by Frederick Xavier as ruling on behalf of the underage Frederick August III (son of Frederick Krystian). He did not include the coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania on his coins, but used the title of Polish prince in his titulature.

Under the elector's cap, a five-field shield with the coats of arms of the Saxons. On the sides of the shield palm branches. Under the shield, separated by a royal apple, initials ED - C (Ernest Dietrich Croll - mincmaster of the Dresden mint).
In the rim the inscription: ELECTORATVS SAXON ADMINISTRATOR 1766

Beautifully struck and preserved coin. Plastic relief. Beautiful detail, especially on the reverse. Intense luster and mint mirror. A rare and sporadic coin on the collector market. An attractive piece.
