Ducat of Wladyslaw IV Vasa minted at the Torun mint. Ducats from the period when Melchior Schirmer was in charge of the mint are very rare.

Bust of Ladislaus IV Vasa in profile to the right, wearing a crown and armor covered with a lace collar. On the chest is the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece.
In the rim an inscription divided at the top by a crown: VLAD IIII D G REX POL M D L RVS P
Rw.:
Angel supporting an oval shield with the coat of arms of Toruń. On the sides of the shield the date 16 - 42 below initials M - S (Melchior Schirmer - manager of the Torun mint in 1640-1643).
In the rim, an inscription divided at the top by a rosette: MONETA AVREA CIVITATIS THORVNENSIS
Variety with a wider bust of the king.
Condition: NGC MS62
A superbly struck and preserved piece for this type. Intense luster and mirror finish. Mint condition of the coin confirmed by a very high NGC grade. This is the piece that received the highest NGC MS62 grade and is the only piece with an MS62 grade. In this condition, the coin is extremely rare and practically unavailable on the collector's market. An exquisite piece to adorn the finest collections.
