Sigismund III Vasa, Shelrogue 1617, Vilnius - beautiful and very rare
Variety with abbreviated date 1 - 7 on the sides of the royal monogram on the obverse and a large crown on the reverse.
Bogoria coat of arms (of Hieronim Vollovich - Grand Treasurer of Lithuania) under the shields on the reverse.
The mintmaster's mark "Arrow" (Johan Stippelt - mintmaster of the Vilnius mint), oriented perpendicular to the inscription, ends the obverse inscription on the reverse.
Inscription variation with the titulature ... POL M D in the rim on the obverse and the inscription ... LITVA ... in the rim on the reverse.
Error - in the titulature stamped SIC ... instead of SIG ... - rare.
State of preservation: NGC MS65
An off-centered reverse, but a superbly struck and preserved piece. Impressive detail. Knockdown luster and mint mirror all over the surface. Very rare and underrated variety with an error in the titling and the "Arrow" mark perpendicular to the obverse inscription on the reverse. An excellent piece for the best collections.
