Augustus III Sas, Ort 1754 EC, Leipzig
On the obverse bust in profile to the right wearing a crown.
On the reverse a crowned shield of arms. Under the shield the denomination mark 18 and initials E - C (Ernest Dietrich Croll - mincmaster of the Leipzig mint).
The "bulldog" bust is ribbed with a ribbed section of the sleeve and a plain ribbon of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Heads of rivets on the breastplate.
Crown fields of the obverse and reverse smooth with suspensions in the central fields. On the reverse, four pearls each on the suspensions.
The clasp brooch is oval with a pearl border.
Reverse variant with ten leaves.
Variation of punctuation without a dot ending the obverse inscription on the obverse and with a dot after the date.
Condition: 3+/2-
Minor sheet metal defects and local scarcity, but a very nicely preserved piece. A rarer and prized bust. An attractive coin.
